Here is the minisheet of 16 I was just talking about, the last strip actually comes from it! I CTO'd it on the Day of release myself with the Bowling postmark from the Downtown office Very Happy

wow the first thing i thought of when reading this thread was

"oh man my kids going to be all over this!!"

then in the very next instant my whole perspective shifted into

"hmmmm can i find room to start my own Canadian collection" LOL...

Beautiful stamps my friend... i can not wait to see more (and more and more and .... well you get the idea LOL)

Perhaps you might like to explain to a relatively newbie in this game why the CTO? In Aus CTO stamps go, mostly, for a fraction of the value of mint and most collectors would rather get a used stamp (one that has done its work) rather that any kind of CTO.

There are exceptions eg some Roos etc.

Here is my thinking on that one...

I wanted a large used multiple of the issue and since I didn't want to risk the stamps getting damaged by travel or by a moron with a pen, I asked if I could have the sheet Cancelled by the PO clerk. This to me is 'Cancelled to Order" or C.T.O. Very Happy

There are other definitions that I have read that involve surplus stock, limited edition collector packs, etc that are sold and these also contain CTO stamps, but I don't collect them and haven't really read up on the scoop on them, sorry. Rolling Eyes

Maybe I have made a mistake calling them CTO, there probably aren't alot like it out there! Cool

Thanks, mate...I think there is some confusion with the terminology, as you rightly say.

And thanks for the sunshine too, we have had a bit of reversal in Sydney - from beautiful hot days to nasty cold and wet ones, and now I'm sick of them!

I have that lovely image on a stamp you sent me on one of your great covers!

Long cover bearing 2x 10c and 2x4c handicraft series, freeform ballons and year of the Horse.

Tourism series (with lighthouse), mountain peaks (freeform) and hanicraft series, with a huge cds.Oshawa, Ontario. I don't even have the $1.25 Tourism in my collection, YET!!!!!

Gary Watson is a well known auctioneer who runs Prestige Auctions here in Melbourne. The address is their old one.
