Greetings Fellow Boarders
.
In the spirit of contributing to the thread, and my practice using the scanner, I offer these humble and meager examples of Vanuatu collection of Water Craft on Stamps.
.
Vanuatu, Scott 596, 601, & 607
.
Vanuatu, an island group in the south Pacific Ocean, northeast of New Caledonia, became an independent Republic on July 30, 1980 from the Anglo-French condominium of New Hebrides. These three lithograph stamps, watermarked with multiple crown and print "CA," are part of the 16 stamp set, "Island Scenes," issued July 7, 1993.
.
The 10 Vatu stamp depicts the harbored yachts on Irirki Island. Depicted on the 45 Vatu stam is a man in a canoe on Erakor Island. A sailboat at sunset is depicted on the 80 vatu stamp. (A vatu, in 1981, was equivalent to a Hebrides franc.)
.
I obtain these stamps, as well as most of my used world wide stamps in my collection of this period, by dumpster diving in the back streets and alleys of Washington, D.C.
.
Respectfully,

Gordon Lee

I graciously offer my compliments on both the stamps and the technique of acquisition.

Very nice indeed!

Kind Regards, sunny

Greetings Mr. Skilo54
.
The strange thing is, I have 15 of the 16 stamp set -- all of the high values but not the measly 5 vatu. Sad I reckon I didn't dive deep enough into the dumpster. Embarassed
.
Respectfully,

Gordon Lee

In nearly all the Malaysian sets, it is the 1c and 2c or 1 sen and 2 sen that are the hardest to get used ( or even mint) because they were always a make-up value..

Mr. GordonLee

those are stunning examples ! what a great find indeed. As Waroff49 suggested the make up stamps are often the hardest to locate no matter what means you use to obtain them.

As i get ready to select my favorite copies from the Ship Album i will look to see if i have any of those at all and certainly will keep an eye out for the "missing" member of your collection when various packets arrive here at the Bear Cave.

Pitcairn Islands Scott # 159a (pair, #157 & #159)

Both stamps commemorate the American Bicentennial in 1976 and features the Mayflower (#157) and H.M.S. Bounty (#159)
