| They treated them like real stamps which I thought was pretty cool. I've got to make me a personal cinderella for mailings to other collectors. |

| The U.S. issues so many stamps that I think sometimes the postal employees go ahead and cancel anything that looks like it might be a stamp, regardless of whether or not it really is.
Nevertheless, you'd probably be hard pressed to get a clerk at the post office to agree to do this for you if you asked for it, so that's a nice piece! |

I'd be hard pressed to debate your observations even if I wanted to. |

| Haha...last fall I actually had a mail clerk tell me it was against regulations to handstamp an envelope that I handed over the counter because all letters had to go through the automated canceling machine. When I asked what would happen if I brought in a package with stamps on it, I was informed that it would be canceled by hand because it was too big to go through the automated canceling machine, but postmarking my little letter was still out of the question. I ended up talking to the supervisor, who also maintained that it was against regulations to handstamp the mail, but finally told the clerk to postmark it, probably to get me out of their hair. Happily, I recently discovered a Contract Postal Unit near work. They let me postmark my mail myself. |

| I've had some luck getting my mailings to the members here handstamped...until I meet this counter lady who refuses to do it. Guess I better work harder charming the post office staff ! |

| I really dislike staff like that. I seriously think that they were giving you a line of bull and were too lazy to stamp them. I takes more energy to argue out the issue than it does to grab the cancel stamp and use it. Got to love some government employees. Give them a job with a title and it goes to their heads. _________________ Ignorance isn't bliss... it is just ignorance.

| I guess that this attitude is more prevalent in larger PO's. I have not had any such issues at my small local one. It has been awhile since I have been able to get out to post anything though, so they may have changed as well.
As far as a regulation... that I would have to see to believe.
It would be nice if someone would request/demand to see that reg, and if it is true, to post it here! |

| I would have told that employee that they are an employee of an organization that is providing a service. That service was to sell the stamps and process the mailings of the public. As such they are being PAID to do that. SO... now go and grab those 17 cents worth of stamps or I will be chatting with their immediate supervisor. _________________ Ignorance isn't bliss... it is just ignorance.

| Ross, the biggest problem with this Post Office, is that it is a satelite location for a bigger Post Office in the area. This location is open from 9 to 3:30, and closed for lunch. There is only one person working there, so its not like I can complain to anyone else. |
