This is a very special set of stamps to me. You could go to the USPS website and vote on the subjects you wanted to see on the sheets. There were maybe two dozen to thirty choices and if I remember right you could vote for one to 15 subjects. The 15 subjects receiving the most votes appeared on the sheet and then moved onto the next decade. I cast my full ballot for each of the ten sheets. It was worth taking the time to vote as a history buff as much as a stamp collector. It was fun to see what stamps I voted for did and did not make the final 15.

My wife picked these sheets up for me one at a time as they became available at the post office. It was a lot of fun collecting these as she was at that time also collecting the then new state quarters.

Serious or silly it's what Americans see in themselves and their times based on their own opinions and votes. One way or another all 150 stamps fit very neatly under the topic, "Americana" but they are a treasure trove for topical collecting. What a pity they were so scarcely used as postage.
