1962 Europa - Complete Set of 4

The puffin bird, which is a member of the parrot family, breeds on Lundy and can be seen by visitors. It has also given its name to the unit of currency of the island. This results in the unusual situation of puffin birds portrayed on puffin stamps! The set is one of the famous and popular "Europa" commemorating the European Postal Congress of 1962.

Great Britain, Herm Island - 1954 'Nature' - Complete Set of 12

Herm is a small island in the English Channek. These multi-coloured triangles picture local flowers, fish, birds and butterflies. They are required for postage on the local mail service from Herm to the island of Guernsey where the British Post Office takes over. They are called "Local Stamps" but they are an interesting and legitimate stamp issue at a bargain price......

Glad you liked them my friend, I picked them up from a local auctioneer, just kind of put in a few bids online one night and ended up with these. Shocked

I am hoping to wave my magic wand over these and turn them into Kings..... that would be my preferred situation. king

ok some interesting stuff popped up

from Wiki
Quote:
Stamps
Owing to a decline in population and lack of interest in the mail contract, the GPO ended its presence on Lundy at the end of 1927.[74] For the next couple of years Harman handled the mail to and from the island without charge. On 1 November 1929 he decided to offset the expense by issuing two postage stamps, with their value expressed in "Puffins". The printing of Puffin stamps continues to this day. They have to be put on the reverse of the envelope. So that the mainland sorting offices can process the letters their cost includes the standard Royal Mail charges for onward delivery. Puffins are a type of postage stamp known to philatelists as "local carriage labels". Issues of increasing value were made over the years, including air mail, featuring a variety of people. Many are now highly sought-after by collectors.[75] with the value of the early issues rising substantially over the years. The stamps of Lundy Island serve to cover the postage of letters and cards from the island to the nearest GPO post box on the mainland for the many thousands of annual visitors, and have become part of the collection of the many British Local Posts collectors. The first catalogues of these stamps included Gerald Rosen's 1970 Catalogue of British Local Stamps. Later specialist catalogues include Stamps of Lundy Island by Stanley Newman, first published in 1984, Phillips Modern British Locals CD Catalogue, published since 2003, and Labbe's Specialized Guide to Lundy Island Stamps. There is a comprehensive collection of these stamps in the Chinchen Collection, donated by Barry Chinchen[76] to the British Library Philatelic Collections in 1977 and located at the British Library. This also the home of the Landmark Trust Lundy Island Philatelic Archive which includes artwork, texts and essays as well as postmarking devices and issued stamps.[77]

now since tehy are charges for carrying they are postage however since they are only valid locally and they are on the reverse are they Cinderella's? personally i dont care . they are simply amazing and beautiful .. but i am curious to learn more...

I came across a Lundy stamp in my last batch of kiloware. Nice stamp and yes I wonder how one places these stamps.

I have seen them placed on the backside of covers. That seems to be a common place to find these 'Local Issues' I don;t have any covers in my possession but I have seen many on the interwebs and more often than not they are applied and cancelled on the back.

Have a good one, sunny

Laughing it seems I have once again misspoke myself. I was referring to how to place into the collection

I would present them as a stand alone section in a "Local Issues" collection. They could also fall after B.O.B. in a Great Britain collection, if you limit it to the 'British' ones.

Have a good one, sunny

Here is one I found in some kiloware.
If any one wants it, i would be happy to sent it along.
Right now it is stuffed under the plexiglass on my desk, as I have nowhere else to put it.
