| I was wondering how long this reaction would take place.
Tidbit of trivia for you. There were 15 colonies invited to the party, only 13 attended. Any idea as to the remaining two? _________________ Ignorance isn't bliss... it is just ignorance.

| I don't know exactly what to other colonies but I'm pretty sure they're in present day Canada. Sentiment about the revolution tended to change the further north one went. |

| Yep... Upper and Lower Canada
Weirdly enough Lower Canada (Quebec) is above Upper Canada (Ontario).

I've seen that in a couple of places in the Scott catalogues. I don't know what makes Scott do these screwy things.

| Greetings Mr. Tedski . Throwing together a stamp catalog within a timely manner is one job I would never want. Especially if committees are involved. I imagine a lot depends on the information they receive from the individual country postal authorities. . Actually, I am surprised that the "Number Additions, Deletions & Changes" section at the end of each volume are not larger. . Respectfully,
Gordon Lee
ps. Aamer, the other ship with the red & white striped flag is the American ship, Montgomery. |

That's a US ship, Aamer. See the stripes on the flag? Like today's flag without the field of stars. During that time frame the US... rather the Colonists/Revolutionists... (terrorists?) used a number of different US flags... there's at least one series of US stamps commemorating those early flags... patriotic flags I believe they were called.
But that's a US and UK ships going at each other. |

| The kick to all this is I wanted some extra material to help build a nice Bicentennial topical collection. Some months back I'd run across a three volume collection of cachet covers that commemorated the events leading up to the revolution and the war itself up to Yorktown.
The covers are neat because they are each postmarked on the 200th anniversary of the event and when possible in the city or town where the even occurred. I'll have to take a few shots of the volumes to post.
Turns out I end up with ... I don't know... 80 or 90 cachet covers on album pages telling the whole freakin' story of the revolt and war. What I thought was going to be 18 or 20 pages of worldwide commems turns out to be 93 pages and includes some really interesting material.
I'm a bit surprised by how much it is material wise - before even thinking about how to present the collection the thing spans across 4 volumes!
This is going to take some thought to say the least... |
