Born on May 29, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts
Died on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas

The 5-cent John F. Kennedy memorial stamp was issued on May 29, 1964, the late president's 47th birthday. The stamp was designed by the New York firm of Raymond Loewy/William Snaith, based on a sketch by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing artist Robert L. Miller. Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy made the final selection from the many designs submitted.

This stamp was printed by the rotary process and issued in panes of fifty stamps each. An initial printing of 250 million stamps was authorized.
