| Visited a friend tonight that lives in a high rise here in Toronto. Getting back on the elevator to head down, the door opens and the dog heads into the elevator. The damn door CLOSES in my face. I have one of those extending leads that is good for 30'.... but Jazmine (my dog) entered the elevator on the 5th floor . I actually felt the lead snap in my hands and a myriad of thoughts went through my mind at that moment in time. I was able to get down to the main floor to find my dog there....... not only in one piece but alive, albeit with a sore neck and a chest injury, that we only noticed after we got home... but alive none the less!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The gentleman that found her said she was hanging by her collar from the ceiling of the elevator before the the lead actually broke and she was able to fall to the floor. So... right now the sore 15 year old dog and I are at home enjoying a poutine together. All I have to say in polite company is bloody elevators... other wise lets just leave it alone for fear of 2nd degree burns from the words that are running through my mind right now.\ As an FYI this is my dog and I at Christmas a few years ago... |

| Well she seems fine this morning.... the very first thing I did after getting up was check on her, no coffee, or other morning routine till she was looked in on. Her neck seems fine and I can see no bruising. Mind you, she is getting handled with kit gloves for the next few days. Now off to a store to buy a new leash As for the safety mechanism on the elevator, yeah, they are supposed to be there, but this building my friend lives in (and I used to live in for almost 6 years) has bad elevators. The doors will close on a person occasionally. Usually Jaz and I take the stairs down to the main floor when we leave, I decided on taking the elevator last night and regret it. _________________ Ignorance isn't bliss... it is just ignorance.

| My cat turned out to be a big bully, so he is being replaced on avatar by the doggy duo, Dexter and Harvey. Dexter sends condolences to Jaz and wishes for a fast recovery. Here is a photo of Dexter at work. |
