Just a quick sports shout out...

Congratulations to my hometown team... the LSU Fighting Tigers captured their 15th SEC Baseball Championship over the weekend by toppling #2 South Carolina on the road winning the weekend series 2 games to 1.

The big series win on the road moved LSU up to a #2 national ranking and all but guarantees home field advantage in the upcoming Regionals.

On to Omaha and another Series Championship!

The LSU baseball team is now in the driver's seat in the NCAA Regional Tournament being held in Baton Rouge, LA. The Tigers defeated Oregon State last night, 7-1. The contest was played in front of the largest crowd in LSU baseball history with an attendance of 10,367.

The Tiger pitching staff is playing light's out baseball holding opponents to two runs in the first two games of the tournament.

LSU will play the winner of this afternoon's Oregon State vs Louisiana-Monroe contest. This is a double elimination tournament so either OSU or ULM will have to beat the Tigers twice to win the Region.

Winner of the Baton Rouge Regional will face the winner of the Miami Regional in Baton Rouge next weekend for the next round - Super Regionals.

Bringing everyone up to date here... LSU went on to win their Region in a sweep... this weekend the winner of the Miami bracket, Stony Brook, is in town for the Super Regionals... winner goes on to Omaha, Nebraska and the College World Series...

The first game of the series was last night but was called because of rain with the scored tied 4-4 in the 12th inning... they'll finish that game this afternoon then start the second game afterward.... if it doesn't rain again.

I didn't have the heart to post it until now... Stony Brook... STONY BROOK... came into Baton Rouge and on our own danged field stomped our butts and punched their ticket to Omaha for the first time ever.

FYI... Stony Brook was the first team eliminated from the CWS after serious beatings by UCLA and Florida State. Now I don't have a dog in the CWS fight... I'm gonna pull for the Seminoles next weekend.

When the Cocks claim their 5th or 6th CWS title then come talk to me, Tiger Bait. (You're SEC... I know you can take the smack talk!)

Be sure and count the rings at the 0:07 mark!
